Angmering: A Charming West Sussex Village

The shops in The Square have changed substantially since the photo on the left was taken
in the early 20thC. All the shops in the picture have been demolished and re-built with the exception of the one on the near left (Pesketts) which is now occupied by Butts Estate Agents and The Stone Room. The tall shop was Dench’s (later Marsh’s) grocery stores.

Angmering, a picturesque village nestled in the heart of West Sussex, offers a delightful blend of rural charm and modern amenities. The village’s focal point, the charmingly named “The Square,” is a hub of community life, home to a mix of independent shops, traditional pubs, and green spaces. With its proximity to the stunning South Downs National Park and the vibrant coastal town of Littlehampton, Angmering provides the perfect base for exploring the best of the West Sussex countryside.
